Another color image from "Visions" series
It just hit me that many are not familiar with this amazing place. this is taken in Zion national park. Equally impressive but quite different view of the same location from top is also available here: [link] The complete set of images in the "visions" series is available on my website: [link] enjoy life, Daily DeviationGiven 2009-03-09Visions 15a by ~m-ozgur I have to admit, aside from just about falling out of my chair when seeing this users entire gallery, and sitting for about 90 minutes trying to figure out which image to give a DD to, I finally settled on this one, ad it was NOT an easy choice by any means, one of the harder DD decisions I have had to make.....and I would urge you all to look through this users gallery, because your mouth is going to honestly drop! His B&W white work is amazing as well...I hope you all enjoy this shot as much as I do! It is incredible....... (Featured by ^kkart) |

Are you thinking that there is a camera, display or paper that can display 15-17 f-stop dynamic range images?
I find the statement that "realistic shot" for this scene is equivalent to asking for less, much much less than what is seen here. It is personal choice after all, but surely it is not mine.
BTW, this scene is at a very well known and traveled location. I wonder why you have not come across "realistic" shots before?
Do you think they may be lacking something as well?
actually, i read that pentax is working on a camera that shoots in hdr. personally, i don't like hdr much.
how would you know if i have or haven't come across realistic shots before? .. don't answer this, it's a rhetorical question.
btw, where is this location?
Even you display it realistically, it questionable if you like it. ... don't answer before seeing.
If you've seen good realistic -or natural- shots from this location, you would remember it. If you did, your original comment would have been different.
this is from zion national park, where hundreds of photographs roam every day and millions -if not billions- of shots taken every year.
BTW, this is NOT a HDR image, the way made by many others currently.
as far as what i would remember or not, you have no idea what i would or wouldn't remember.
zion kicks ass, been there when i was kid - before i ever picked up a camera. would love to go back and shoot some day. other priorities prevail at the moment.
btw, it doesn't matter if it's hdr or not, it's too artificial looking for my tastes - as i stated before.
this is how it goes sometimes, it's not a big deal. some people will love your work, and it's clear that some do - i've seen comments, and that's great, really! .. however, not all people are alike, some will not like it as much.
take care, mate.
have a good one.
My beef is with your suggestion is that realistic shots are somehow better. Aside the technical difficulties capturing, displaying and printing realistic shots, historically most revered landscape photographs have been heavily manipulated. In fact "the art" of landscape photography is based on manipulation of during and after the capture. Even so-called straight-photographs (only manipulations during capture) are rare that they are small fraction of all landscape photographs. Then, have you seen something different in realistic shots than masters of photographers managed to miss?
it saddens me to see comments that carry large bags of misconceptions and misinformation.
